One of the most important project documentation milestone to achieve on any project, has to be the sign-off of a Test Strategy document. This typically contains the testing methodology and acceptance criteria, vital if you want to define the end point for a project and the starting point for maintenance and support to begin.

If your running a software house, getting a clear end to a project is one of the keys to profiatable software development.

I recently carried out some searches via Google to see if I could find some fit for purpose IT Project Status Report templates. I found to my dismay mostly one-page Word documents with a few headings, poor formats and many essential headings missing. None of these really explained what you needed to write under each heading in terms of content and style.

The attached Project Status Report is in fact a real report issued to a client, which has been changed so that Clarety keeps to its client confidentiality commitments.

A regular visitor to this site asked me for some help in obtaining an example of a good consultant’s Service Contract, which he could use to close a direct deal with a potential client.

So, here is a copy of the kind of personal service contract I use with UK clients and under UK legal jurisdiction. This contract has most, if not all, of the IR35 friendly clauses you would typically see in a standard PCG Contract, plus additional clauses covering payment of earned fees and the all important exit aspects of any consultancy contract.

Click here to download a FREE PRINCE II PID template. I have stripped out project specific references from a ‘real’ PID to keep much of the text used in the original in order to give valuable insights into how to compile this important document.  I felt this would be better than using a more traditional PRINCE 2 Product Description Style Template.
