So what is an Inter Project Dependency (IPD)?

It is where Projects become so intertwined that one portion of one project cannot begin or be continued unless a part of another project has been completed.

Alternatively, it can be described as the relationship between a key event in a Controlling project and another key event in a Dependent project.

I recently carried out some research via Google to see if I could find some high grade downloadable “IT Project Status Report templates”. To my dismay all I could find were mostly one-page Word documents with a few headings, poor formats and many of the essential headings and key content missing. Many seemed a far cry from what I would call a ‘best practice’ template, capable of informing and impressing stakeholders.

This template should be completed at the end of the first month of the project when you have some cost actuals to report. However, this template is of no use unless it has a budget to compare.
