Bio
Kevin is a Chartered Insurer and Honours Degree Graduate in Economics.
He then joined Coopers & Lybrand as a senior member of a specialist reinsurance run-off team designing bespoke computer systems capable of carrying out detailed analysis of insolvent reinsurance companies. Kevin was Project Manager for the run off of the Bermuda Re one of the KWELM (London United) group of companies which is still regarded as the biggest insurance liquidation in the world.
In 1995 Kevin joined Experian as part of a team which was responsible for the set-up of a new Insurance Services Division. As an industry specialist he was responsible for the design, development and marketing of knowledge-based IT solutions to the UK insurance industry. He was also involved in the CUE database, development of geo-demographic postcode underwriting systems and the “what-if” modelling of windstorm, earthquake, tsunamis and volcanic eruption for reinsurance companies.
Capitalising on his industry contacts and reputation, Kevin decided to go it alone and set-up in 1998 Clarion Consulting to specialise in the provision of interim management and “troubleshooting” IT projects /programmes of work for Blue Chip Companies. A summary client list includes:-
• Telewest – Programme Director – Blueyonder Home & Family Portal and associated e-business change programme

• National Lottery – Programme Manager – Delivery of the National Lotteries games and draws results portal.

• Waitrose Ocado – Programme Director – Responsible for trouble shooting and turning round this programme of work.

• CGNU (Now Norwich Union) – Programme Director – Responsible for delivery of the first transactional insurance quote and buy websites and organisational e- change programme.

• Channel 5 – Programme Director – Delivery of new home shopping channel with QVC
£75 million budget
• Cable & Wireless – Programme /Project trouble shooter – Turning round various projects /programmes of work as part of the companies £200 million Business Transformation Programme. Biggest IT project in the then companies history.
• Programme /Project Auditor and IT strategy consultant for Cable & Wireless, BP, and Royal & Sun Alliance.
Programmes with budgets between £55 million and £150 million.
Kevin has seen some of the most dramatic changes in the IT industry having worked on major IT programmes right through the turbulent times of year 2000 and the DOT.COM era.
Kevin set-up Clarety in 2006 with the objective of developing a Strategy Consultancy with a difference. Kevin sees 70% + IT Project Failure rates and the underlying reasons for failure as the biggest single cause of rising IT costs and the growing inability of IT to deliver promised /expected improvements is business efficiency and competitive advantage. His vision is to see improved alignment of corporate IT activities to support /help achieve key business objectives via sound IT strategies supported by methods capable of delivering consistent and repeatable IT project /programme success. “If the building industry can achieve 95% project success rates so can you”. “The achievement of Business Objectives and lower IT operating costs through cost effective and repeatable IT project /programme success is our mission”.
