I recently carried out some research via Google to see if I could find some high grade downloadable “IT Project Status Report templates”. To my dismay all I could find were mostly one-page Word documents with a few headings, poor formats and many of the essential headings and key content missing. Many seemed a far cry from what I would call a ‘best practice’ template, capable of informing and impressing stakeholders.

Bottom-line cost monitoring of project costs can be carried out by the attached template. This template should be completed at the end of the first month of the project when you have some cost actuals to report. However, this template is of no use unless it has a budget to compare. The cost budget for each month is derived from the Project Budget Template posted earlier this month.

One of the first stages in Benefits Realisation Management is to identify the benefits you want your project /programme to deliver, who will own them, and how they will be measured in terms of the target level of improvement required. To do this you need to identify your project /programmes stakeholders and complete, for each identified benefit, a Benefit Profile.
